Industry Support Coordinator: Resident Services
Job Goals are to:
- Bring resident services providers together to learn from national research, provide peer to peer support, assess barriers to successfully delivering resident services, and to create best practices for resident services programs.
- Create the framework and messaging strategies that will clearly articulate barriers to serving residents, tools that service providers need, and recommend policies, underwriting changes, and program changes
- Create communication system for articulating resident services needs to elected and government officials, community leaders, funders, and other decision makers.
- Improve existing policies and programs for resident services in Portland area and state government and decision-making bodies and with elected leaders and other decision makers.
- Affect the public impression of, and confidence in, resident services.
- Lead the community development industry and its partners in creating and funding a long-term sustainable resident services delivery system.
Job Duties Include:
- Staff and facilitate the Portland Area and State resident services best practices groups in areas as defined through a CDN/AOCDO and Resident Service Working Group approved work plan.
- Staff and facilitate the Resident Services Opportunity Project group and any subcommittees or steering committees associated with their work.
- Identify and respond to issues that arise around the effectiveness, efficiency of resident services policies, programs and resources.
- Assist in organizing issue experts from in or out of state who can meet with funders, policy-makers, and advocates to help promote initiatives, develop next steps, and make policy recommendations.
- Organize a speaker’s bureau in conjunction with other staff that will present represent resident services issues to community, government, business and other leaders throughout the region.
- Coordinate and support initiative campaigns and the general affordable housing network.
- Support staff in writing bi-weekly newsletters related to resource needs, program changes and other issues.
- Generate success stories to incorporate in media packaging and pr materials.
· Assist in mobilizing base of support to attend public hearings, meetings with key government, business and community leaders around issues that effect resident services.
· Identify long-term funding for position.
· Other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment:
Part-time. Requires flexible work schedule that may include evenings and/or weekends. Requires some travel among locations throughout the state.
Salary: Exempt, $22,500-25,000 for .5 FTE per year plus limited benefits.
Minimum Qualifications:
· A level of training and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skill, and ability commensurate with the requirements of the position.
· Experience in collaboration and coordination of services with other people and organizations.
· Ability to effectively coordinate a multitude of tasks, demands, and expectations.
· Ability to coordinate and mange teams with differing views and opinions.
· Strong oral and writing skills.
· Experience in public speaking and presentations.
· Understanding of affordable housing and community development issues.
· Computer competency with software and database management.
· Fundraising and grant-writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· PowerPoint and graphic design skills.
· Nonprofit or community development work.
· Media or public communications background
· Community organizing experience.
